STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF BERRY GROWING IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article analyzes the current state of berry growing in Ukraine, and also defines its rolein the structure of agriculture. Special attention is paid to the prospects for the developmentof the industry, taking into account modern trends in the international market. It was determined that the natural and climatic conditions of Ukraine are favorable for the development of berry growing as an important branch of agricultural production and a promising direction of agribusiness. An analysis of the dynamics of changes in the main indicators of the industry’s development over the last ten years, in particular, the area of plantations, yield and total production volume, under the influenceof certain factors, was carried out. It has been established that berry crops are grown mainly in households, in all regions of the country, but mostly in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Lviv, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions. The structure of berry production was considered by the main types – strawberries and strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, currants, gooseberries. A comparison was made of planting areas, production volumes, and yields of the main berry crops. The peculiaritiesof the cultivation of niche berry crops in Ukraine are characterized - blueberries, sea buckthorn, blueberries, honeysuckle, black rowan. Varieties that are the most promising for growing are indicated. The structure and geography of the export of berry products are considered. It was found out thatthe export structure is dominated by frozen berries – raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberriesand strawberries, and the products are exported mainly to the countries of the European Unionand China. Blueberries and raspberries are the leaders in the export of fresh berries, the main sales markets are European. It was determined that the further development of the berry growing industry involves the creation of new plantations, increasing the yield of berry crops and improving the quality of products. For the further development of the berry industry of Ukraine, it is necessary to focus attention on the cultivation of high-quality, profitable and competitive products both for the domestic market and for export.
